The poem mentioned during this interview:

My Lucky Shirt
For Phil - by -Catherine Johnson

If you were my lucky shirt, and
some days I think you are,
sitting on the tailgate
sharing coffee and doughnuts,
talking sports, faith, this year’s corn

If you were my lucky shirt
I would wear you every day,
until I mended you
so many times
you were nothing but the thinnest of threads.

Then I would wind your threads
onto a wooden spool
painstakingly shaped and sanded,
I’d sit down and sew you once again
into a new shirt
even luckier than the first.
